Microsoft Bing – Bing Revolutionises SEO

(Bit techy I know but stay with me!!)

Microsoft have introduced a revolutionary new search engine to take on the mighty Google. This is widely tipped to be the fastest and hottest new .net technology in the next 18 months so to stay ahead of the game, here are my guidelines as to how to achieve high SEO rankings with this new phenomenon.

With the introduction of Microsoft Bing, there have been wholesale changes to the Search Engine Optimisation. Do you remember the days where you had to get links from sources or submit your website to every search engine? Well these days are finally over! This gets slightly technical but trust me, it is worth taking the time to ingest this.

The first question from Internet Marketers now is how to get their sites to the top of the search rankings, so here are my tips to achieving this.
More text is better. First things first, Bing will notice websites with more words so make sure your textual content amounts to at least 400 words on the page.

Marketers must now link out and include a key word rich title. Without a title correlating to the theme of your website you will not feature higher than everyone else.

Another very interesting point is that Bing picks up on older domains, so if you have a new, fresh domain it may be worth buying one that was registered years before but has not been bought/used. The older the domain, the more it will be noticed.

You must use well-formed HTML codes in all web pages. Close every paired tags and you should see that every link opens the correct web page. To get more information on validating your HTML code, get HTTP compression or W3C Markup Service (can be found on Google). Make sure your website does not contain broken link or the MSN bot will not effectively index your website. This will stop people from visiting your pages, not what you need!!

Allow MSN Bolt to crawl through your site and double check that it is not on the list of prohibited crawlers, you can check the control web pages to make the necessary check.

Use tags or a Robot.txt file to control how web crawlers index your site. The reason for this is that you can prevent them from crawling certain pages or files.

URL’s must be kept static and even MORE importantly, keep them simple. The more difficult a URL or the more a URL changes, the harder it is to index as a link destination. Also, a URL that never changes is easier for people to remember.

As I have already stated, this may be quite technical information but is key for high SEO. Taking a couple of hours out of a day to ensure this is all in working order will enhance your business dramatically.
